The Fine Print
Privacy Policy
Effective June 2026 · Miami, Florida
Mafia.FYI is a free, browser-based companion for playing the party game Mafia in person. We built it to be lightweight and private: there are no accounts, no ads, and no third-party tracking. This policy explains the little data the service touches.
What we collect
- A display name you type to host or join a table. It is shown to the other players in your game.
- Gameplay state — your role, night actions, and votes — held in server memory only while a game is running.
- A session token stored in your browser so you can reconnect to a game in progress. It is not an advertising or cross-site tracking cookie.
- Standard server logs such as IP address and browser user-agent, kept briefly to operate the service and prevent abuse.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or rent your data.
- We don't run ads, advertising trackers, or third-party analytics.
- We don't require an account, email, or password.
How long we keep it
Game rooms are ephemeral and live in memory. When a game ends — or the server restarts — that room and its gameplay state are gone. Where a deployment enables history and leaderboards, only minimal finished-game summaries are stored (room code, player count, rounds, winner, date, and the display names shown on the leaderboard). Data kept in your browser stays until you clear it.
Children
Mafia.FYI is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information.
Your choices
Clearing your browser's site data removes the saved session token and pending name at any time.
